What Would You Do? Legionnaires’ Disease Crisis at Aria Hotel

An outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease has been reported at the 4,000 room Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Legionnaires’ disease is very serious because it can be deadly and because it spreads easily in a wet, warm environment. This is a serious crisis for Aria hotel, and could cause some guests to be afraid to stay at the hotel.

Only four hotel guests were treated for the disease, but many more may have been exposed from June 21 to July 4.

Hotel’s response

The hotel sent letters to guests who stayed during that time explaining that high levels of the bacteria legionella had been detected in several guest rooms. The hotel does not have any information on the home page about the outbreak.

What would you do?

How well do you think the hotel is handling the crisis currently? What would you do differently? How do you think this crisis will affect the hotel, if at all?
